It’s that time again, the latest Windows Update is out and it has not disappointed in terms wreaking havoc and causing headaches for millions of Microsoft users across the country.

First, let’s look at what the update is for.

This October update is part of a series of updates to Windows 10. These updates are designed to improve features such as security and fix bugs found in previous updates.

This most recent update was supposed to be a “Less Disruptive Update” with fewer changes, according to Microsoft.

Microsoft’s John Cable explained that this update “will be a scoped set of features for select performance improvements, enterprise features, and quality enhancements.” In other words,  a select set of bug fixes, performance tweaks, and a handful of business features.

In rare instances however, the Microsoft updates bring problems while trying to fix issues. This is one of those cases.

Printer Problems

Users are finding that the print spooler service prevents a print job from completing successfully. 

Start Menu Problems

The update also appears to be breaking the Start menu with error “Critical Error: Start Menu not working” when users are trying to open the menu (via Neowin).
